Pedagogical Post #3


Lewis Baumer, 1870 – 1963) was a highly successful cartoon illustrator.  He was an English caricaturist who worked for more than fifty years for the British magazine Punch. Baumer was born at St John’s Wood, London, England, and studied at the St John’s Wood Art School.

One of his major undertakings was to illustrate Ian Hay’s  1914 book entitled ‘The Lighter Side of School Life’, from which the following illustrations are reproduced. They are titled ‘I AM AN ASS’, ‘THE HEADMASTER’, and ‘THE FRENCH MASTER’
