Big Ben

Big Ben and Westminster Bridge, London … WHB – 2015
In London you’ll find a big clock
And notice it doesn’t ‘tick-tock.’
But if you climb the tower
And wait for the hour –
You are in for a bit of a shock!

Very clever Roland. Your poem and excellent drawing brought back some old memories from my time as a police officer in London. The number of times I stood looking at Big Ben I still found it to be a thing of wonder.

Many thanks, Davy. Tough job that! … Wordsworth stood there too & beheld only beauty … but then, he was only a poet!

Another great Cumbrian lol. I have oft stood on Westminster Bridge and contemplated his “Composed Upon Westminster Bridge, September 3, 1802” poem.

Yes, indeed. Ben hadn’t arrived yet then, and he couldn’t see the Gherkin, so perhaps we can forgive him.

A revisit of his poem may be in order.
