DUBROVNIK … City on the coast of the Adriatic Sea in the south of Croatia
Dubrovnik is an ancient city on the southern Adriatic coast of Croatia. On a visit there in 2006 I took all the following photographs, except the first two, whilst walking around the city’s massive stone walls, which were completed in the 16th Century and which encircle the whole city.

Thank you Roland, I echo Jerry’s comment. What is the idea behind the copper coloured chimney pots, if that’s what they are ? Most unusual.

Thanks for commenting, Nigel. I really have no idea about the copper coloured chimney pots.

Thank you for these beautiful photos of Dubrovnik and the interesting captions.
It is indeed a grand city, the former capital of Yugoslavia before the folly of men splintered it.
I have walked the places you show and realised how many beautiful places there are on this earth and how little time to experience them all. So we collect our gems and beautiful memories.
Happy for the blessing of each one. At the time I travelled across the mountains to Split, another extraordinary and friendly city.

Great photos Roland. Not a part of the world I am familiar with. There is a stark contrast between the buildings and the surrounding countryside and coastline. Another one on the to visit list.

Thanks for responding Eugenia. Yes, it’s a pity that I didn’t get a chance to visit that cafe, I’d have loved to do that.
