Ghosts of Christmas Now
Fill my days and haunt my nights

Loves I’ll leave behind
Ghosts of Christmas Yet To Come

NOTE:  Senryū is a Japanese form of short poetry, similar to haiku in construction: three lines with 17 syllables, usually arranged as 5/7/5.   Senryū tend to be about human foibles, while haiku tend to be about nature.   (Adapted from Wikipedia)

  1. Beautiful Roland and so true for most of us. Only yesterday did I think along these lines
but not in such beautiful poetic form. Warm spirits from childhood and later seemed to smile
whilst I also wondered what future ones I will have the joy to meet.
At the same time being grateful for those around.
Thank you for this Christmas present

  2. A poetic Christmas Carol Roland. Dickens and Basho join hands to celebrate. Excellent poetry for Christmas Eve. Enjoy your celebrations.
