Following my series of photographs of Bath on my last week’s photo-blog, I today feature a number of photographs centring on Bath’s position on the beautiful River Avon and its associated canal – the Kennet and Avon.

Enjoyed the photos Roland. It seems like an interesting canal and place to visit. Did you know there is now a Poet Laureate for canals?

Pull the other one, Davy. Now you are going to tell me his name is Tony Lock. Oh, no, sorry. He was a cricketer wasn’t he!?

He was indeed Roland. But it is true.

Yes, I wasn’t questioning your statement, Davy, just making a feeble joke. I must Google the laureate in question.

I know that Roland. I had to pinch myself when I first heard about it. It is an initiative to help and develop the canals and waterways. I wonder what the next laureate will be?

I’m awaiting our current laureate’s poetic ‘take’ on the Royal wedding.

More good shots. Taken when? Film or digital?

Digital … about 2005

Thanks, Roland. Much earlier than me – I didn’t switch until 2012

Yes, Derrick . I started on digital in 2000. Before that I’ve just got many printed snaps in albums which I haven’t so far arrempted to scan. I still just use a compact camera. No special lenses, although I do now have the 30x zoom Panasonic.

Just saw this post now, lagging behind…
To go through a beautiful city like Bath with a Narrow boat must be heavenly.
Such a peaceful way to travel.
Thank you Roland for the inspiring pictures and ideas they evoke.
